  • I’m not very flexible or fit, can I do SunYoga? +

    Yoga can be adapted to suit everybody and you don’t have to be super fit or flexible. All you need to begin is the desire to come along and give it a go. My classes are taught at a slow and meditative pace, with no prior experience necessary. I tailor each class to suit the needs of the students. As long as you can get up & down off the floor then you are ready to start.
  • Do I need to book? +

    It is best to check with me before coming along for your first class. That way I can guarantee there will be a spot for you. As a new student you are eligible for my no obligation, First Class FREE offer. You can join at any time.
  • Do I need to bring anything? +

    You are welcome to bring your own mat, but both spaces have yoga equipment for your use. So, there is no need to bring anything, except your willingness to participate and have a go!
  • How much does it cost? +

    As a new SunYoga customer you are eligible for our once only, First Class FREE offer. After your first class there are great value term rates available as well as casual drop-in rates. Up to date costs are available on the yoga classes page.
  • I want to try a class but I don’t know if I’ll like it. Do I have to commit to a term? +

    You are welcome to try a class any time and you don't need to sign up for a term. I offer a no obligation, FREE, trial class, (one offer per person). After a trial class, you then decide if you are ready to sign up for a term or you can attend casually.
  • What style of Yoga do you teach? +

    SunYoga classes are a combination of gentle Hatha Yoga and other complementary practices, that integrate the yoga practices of postures (asana), breathing (pranayama), meditation and relaxation. I guide the student to slow down, tune in and develop awareness of the unique needs of their body, mind and heart. No two classes are ever the same; I respond to the student's individual needs on the day, the cycle of the seasons, and incorporate my ongoing yogic studies.
  • How many people are in the classes? +

    General class sizes range between 10 and 20 people. I keep class sizes small so I can give each student individual support as needed.
  • What is the age group of the people in the class? +

    My gentle, slow paced style of teaching makes it suitable for a wide range of ages. The majority of my students are in the 30 - 60 range.
  • What do I wear to Yoga? +

    Wear stretchy, exercise clothes that are comfortable and modest, this is for everybody’s comfort! Layers work well so you adjust as your body temperature changes. Please don’t wear strong scents/after shave or sharp jewellery. Yoga is done without shoes so have clean feet and bring socks if the weather is cool.
  • Can I eat before class? +

    For your digestive comfort it is best not to eat a big meal for about 2 hours before you come to class.
  • I need to relax, will SunYoga help me? +

    I focus on the breath and guide your awareness to notice what's happening right here & now; listening and connecting in to your inner being. This helps your mind to release habitual patterns of holding and tension. Each class ends with a guided relaxation/meditation which is deeply relaxing and allows your whole nervous system to unwind and settle.
  • I have a bad back, is SunYoga safe for me? +

    if you are experiencing chronic or acute spinal issues then I advise consulting with an appropriate health professional before starting classes. My classes are gentle; each class begins with therapeutic, mobilising movements, which are beneficial for the general health of your spine. In most cases, participating in my classes combined with common sense, your commitment to working safely, and keeping me informed with any changes in your back issues, we can work together to improve your back issues.
  • I want to loose weight, will SunYoga help me? +

    As my classes don't have a strong exercise focus I can't guarantee that they will help you loose weight, BUT, combined with sensible eating and regular exercise yoga will help with improved health on all levels. Yoga tones and strengthens all the major muscle groups, improves organ function, promotes good digestion and importantly, it helps you to feel better about yourself. When you are feeling good it is easier to avoid bad eating habits!
  • I’m pregnant, can I come to SunYoga? Is it safe? +

    I happily include pregnant women in my general classes. If you are new to Yoga then I recommend you wait until after the first trimester and consult an appropriate health professional before commencing yoga. As your pregnancy develops we can work together to ensure a safe and beneficial yoga practice through each stage of development.
  • Is SunYoga a religious practice? +

    I provide a nurturing and inclusive environment which does not follow or subscribe to any particular religion or dogma. My spiritual philosophy is simple and can support your religious beliefs; I help you to increase and develop your awareness of all aspects of the self, including your connection to spirit and your version of the "divine".
